Under the old methods they were wildly optimistic while IMO the new estimates are really pretty close. To give an example, my 2006 Charger was rated at 17 city and 25 hwy. Real world I got 16. My 2009 Corolla is rated 27 city and 35 hwy. Real world I get 32.
