My Camry has the same 2.4L engine with 5 speed manual but with longer final drive ratio. I can get about 34.5 MPG or 6.8L/100km on a highway trip. I did 36 MPG or 6.5L/100km once and only once but I don't know how I managed that. Worst I've done was 25 MPG 9.4L/100km.
My guess is that your Corollas should be able to perform similarly since your car weighs 500lbs less. But at the same time, you have a shorter final driving meaning the engine revs higher at any given speed.

That's for Toyota cars in general.
I checked that against a 1998 RAV4, 2000 Corolla and 2002 Camry and they all lit up with 10 litres left (cause we pumped a full tank at the pump stopped ~ at the tank size - 10 litres. So that's 45 litres for the RAV, 40 litres for the Corolla and 60 litres for the Camry)
