XM radio installation help
Sienna:
I just read your post and it seemed quite informative. I just purchased a 2009 Corolla XLE and the Dealer told me it would cost $500 to install the XM receiver because they had to pull apart the front of my dash where the CD/radio unit is installed. I told him that our car was equipped with the "AUX Audio Port (for a MP3 player) and the XM Sateliite Antenna". The unit in the car is a "AM/FM/In dasH 6 CD Changer with WMA/MP3 playback capability, Satellite Capability (Requires Receiver & Subscription) with 6 speakers." Now if I understand you all I need to buy is the receiver (part # 86180-0W031) and the fit kit (part # PT546-02080) and XM will play thru my unit? The unit has the AM/SAT button.
I checked in my trunk where you indicated and I have two female plugs. One is a multi holed rectangle plug and the other is a square on hole unit. I assume these are the harnesses for the antenna and the receiver as u indicated.
So, if i purchased the above, I could install them in my trunk area and not have to take apart the dash unit? I haven't worked on a car in probably 10 years so much of this is new to me. Thanks for any help and appreciate the post you made.
