Burned Axle?

1996 T-100 SR5, 2-wd; 140,000 miles; daily work truck.

I just replaced the front rotors and pads, repacked the bearings and flushed the brake system. I found this burned spot on the driver's side but not on the passenger side. The bearings showed no sign of problems and were pristine. I cleaned them in the parts washer and examined with a loupe -- nice shape for 140,000 miles. Probably should have replaced, but I forgot to buy a new set.

Opinions???

Thanks!

Dave
