Remote Starter? It's an OPTION!!
I thnk that MN24 is to be commended for the excellent writeup on the installation of the remote starter.
GrahamC - I do NOT think that MN24 is less ecologically freindly just because of installing a remote starter. The "additional" Fuel use (and CO/CO2 emissions along with it) should be minimal and the vehicle rating (ULEV) doesn't change because of this installation. The fact that MN24 has purchased a Hybrid vehicle is to be commended.
I have a 2009 Hybrid Highlander Limited on order. I also have the REMOTE STARTER ordered - as a FACTORY INSTALLED option. I won't use it when I get up in the morning to warm up the car - because I own (and use) a garage that keeps it warm enough. However - I WILL use it prior to getting into the vehicle from the office because I do NOT get to park it in a cozy garage. I will sleep well at night.
So KUDO's to MN24 fro buying the Hybrid. The miniscule amount of fuel that you will use to warm up your vehicle (2, maybe 3 months out of the year?) is FAR outweighed by the SAVINGS of fuel that you will experience on your drive home....EVERY DAY of the year.
Sleep well at night knowing that you have done the right thing. You bought a HYBRID!! Don't worry - BE HAPPY!
