Just to clarify, you are asking if your existing tires will fit on the new rims?

Here are the existing tire dimensions pulled from the '09 Matrix brochure ...

16s - 205/55R16
17s - 215/45R17
18s - 215/45R18

What is the width of the new rims? 7J = 7"? If so, the OEM 205/55R16 tires will fit just fine.
