Your brake light is probably on because of your pressure differential switch, its a simple pressure switch that is somewhat of an idiot light that can alert you of a fluid leak or pressure loss. I'm guessing the light came on when you're brake line blew/broke and you had a soft pedal and is still on after the problem is fixed? Try this:
SLAM the brake pedal down hard, this will often work to shut the light off. You may have to open a bleeder screw before doing this if you feel comfortable doing so or just take it back to the mechanic that fixed your line. I always try to shut the light off for customers when doing brake work. What line was replaced? Does your car have ABS?
Cruise control does not have anything to do with your brakes. I would suspect a switch or servo problem.
hope this helps
