Well if things don't work out and you mess something up on the install let me know, my parts aren't going anywhere...
I went aftermarket because I wanted a more adjustable EQ that what was on the Scion unit. It was a great unit, just wanted more adjustability. Plus, I wanted hands-free bluetooth and my new head unit has it, and the iPod integration on the new head unit I got (Pioneer FH-P8000BT) has much better iPod navigation.
