Left the Dome light on Why Isn't Battery Dead

Took my teen to the midnight book sale Friday for Stephanie Meyers new book - she "had" to read it on the way home and had the dome light on. It was left on and I did not notice it til Monday - after work. Saw the reflection in my rear view mirror. I can't believe I left it on and I can't believe that I didn't notice ot driving the couple short trips I took over the weekend. The car started fine every time. The light was HOT to touch and it was in the ON position. Does this mean that my bettery will last only two more weeks ? Does the Corolla LE have a sensor or switch that even in ON it shuts off after a while if the light is left on "ON". Does anyone know?
