All you may get in a 2010 model is some fancy rain sensing wipers or something like that. Possibly a digital speedometer. So If you can wait 3+ years for a new XRS corolla with a different engine then by all means wait it out. I didn't feel like waiting. As for the Rav 4 engine, they wont pop that into a corolla anytime soon. Look how long they waited after the release of the 2.4L camry engine to pop it into the Corolla. It will be YEARS before that 2.5 sees a corolla.
Thats my opinion at least. I'd love to be proven wrong, but waiting for the next update is going to be painful since it will be outdated just as fast as this current 10th Gen XRS...

I beg to differ.
The 2.4l engine in the current Corolla XRS (or Camry, Rav4... etc) is an old engine. The 2.5l is brought out to replace it and it will be in the 09 Rav4 that arrives to dealerships this September. 2010 Camry will be getting it. I doubt the Corolla is going to be sticking with an engine that barely any other car uses for much longer. It doesn't make sense financially to make two engines that would overlap each other in terms of deployment. Plus the XRS is only has a little higher hp than some of the other basic offerings from other companies. It needs the upgrade pretty badly imo. So I think if the 2.5 doesn't come for 2010, it would definitely be here for MY2011, available sometime in summer next year.
And I doubt we would be getting a digital speedo, nothing in Toyota I can think of has that right now.
