it has nothing to do with quality really, it has more to do with the ECU... once it learns your driving style then it adapts accordingly. It is not the tranny, nor the engine. The Engine is tried tested and True.
That rule of thump of not buying first year models really only applies to the "Big 3" car companies. They are notorious for launching poor models.
The issue only lasts for 1000-3000km... after that it is clear sailing.
The 10th Gen '09 XRS has NOTHING WRONG with the tranny or the engine, unless you have a LEMON.
This issue is over exaggerated most of the time, (I know for sure because i am one of the guilty for over exaggerating the issue).
