You said it's new: it won't get the best MPG until it is broken in, could be between 5-10 K miles before you see your best
Everyone has a different driving style
which ways do you both drive? If your terrarin corverage is more hilly, that would easily explain it
My wife just put the second tank of gas in her new 09 S Auto, and it got 35, with 80% highway, and a good bit of idling at the dealer when I picked it up. When its broken in I expect to see 36 or 37.
