I think most brand name HUs are pretty much the same nowadays. It comes down to past experience and personal preference. I've only owned 2 HUs (Pioneer and Eclipse). The Pioneer was a bitch to scroll thorough for the menus. The Eclipse is nice, but you can get alot more for the same price. If I had to do it again know, I'd prolly give Alpine a look.
The thing you really need to look out for is the the number of pre-outs and inputs if you need to send aux signals. Otherwise, pick whatever you like in terms of style and ease of use.
One last tip...spend as much as you can on a decent HU and save the grief of having to upgrade. As a matter of fact that's true of all audio equipment.
