Hissing Noise From Dash Area

The other morning my 89' V6 2WD made a loud hissing noise, that either sounded like it came from the driver side dash area, or engine compartment, near the brake booster. At first, I thought it was loud radio static- but when I turned the radio off it still made that hissing/buzzing sound. Then, as I rounded a corner......it just suddenly went away. WTF? Since then, it has not returned. But, if it does I'm pulling-over ASAP...because it sounds like something not good. Any ideas?

Also, I never knew that the check engine light can make my truck such a gutless wonder. Whenever the CEL comes on- I can floor the gas and the truck does nothing...I mean NOT accelerate. I was told the CEL code was a bad throttle position sensor. Lately, when I press the gas pedal before starting- the CEL doesn't come on. It just comes on randomly. Is this part easy to remove? It just looks tight in the engine bay....
