Ok I am to Layyzzzzeeeeeeeeee.....
to open my owners manual and research this myself. When I'm going 60 mph in 4th with my 4sp manual trans is my motor turning the same rpm as a guy going 60 mph in 5th with a 5sp maunal trans....?
On some cars the 4sp's 4th's are geared higher than the 5sp's 5th. The 4's use the same first 4 gears as the 5's and so the 5th on a 5sp is actually an overdrive like magic_truck says. If our 4's on these Toyota's are like what I'm describing then our engine rpm's will be higher in 4th gear than the 5sp's in 5th at the same mph.
