2002 Highlander issues

Two questions to see if anybody else had had these issues- one being minor and the other perhaps more crucial.

The minor: the recycle air function will on occassion turn itself OFF. I have seen this happen after pushing the odometer button or changing the temp or ???. None of these triggers are 100% reproducable which makes the ghost in the machine that much more annoying. So in a nutshell, the air recycle function green light will be on one moment and then the next time you look it is off.

Of greater concern to me is a new issue pertaining to the ABS breaks. Yesterday after nearly having a crazed Chevy Alavanche driver kill my entire family, which required a serious breaking to avoid a headon collision, my ABS now makes an extra noise other than the mechaninal clamping noise I had noticed on a previous, less dangerous but more snowy occasion. Tonight while driving on some back streets with spotty ice the ABS would engage and in addition to the normal clamp, release, clamp, release, etc noise there is a grinding/whining/godawful noise that makes me suspect some kind of damage was done to the ABS function.

Obviously I need to have the vehicle inspected but I would like some input regarding either condition from anybody that has prior experience with these issues so I have something to weigh against the dealer's findings.

TIA for any insight into these issues- I appreciate it greatly.
