My Matrix is 1.8l engine/auto trans., and I get between 33-38MPG. The tire pressute is kept at 32PSI. I am very pleased with gas milleage. I talked to Toyota mechanic about replacing my air filter with K&N air filter, and he did not recommend it. He says that K&N air filter uses oil and some of this oil can get on air censor and mess up engine performance (in a long run). Toyota TRD filter has got oil also, so I do not know....
. I am a little bit conservative, so I will keep using a Genuine Toyota air filter
