After being in the airconditioning business for over 25 years I know that the cold air comeing out of the vent is dry and the unit gets less heat than up on the dash in the sun.
I am not worried about the plastic cracking because plastic has been used for AC vents in cars and houses since the early 1970's
When and if the unit fails a couple of years from now it will be outdated by then anyway but for now it is at a good height so I do not have to look down from the road and the touch screen is within reach unlike when I was useing the suctioncup mount on the windshield.
