I have the exact same issue however I wanted to clarify your issue. So you are noticing this problem while you are in park or neutral and while you are in the garage? Does this problem occur during drive under light acceleration?
My issue is the exact same except I don't get the problem (metal ratelling) to occur in Park or Nuetral, it's only in light accleration during load...it's also when the engine is in normal working conditions (hot).
Thanks!

When I open all the windows and rev it in the garage, it sounds like the sound is coming from the middle-right underneath the car.
I suspect that it might be something inside the muffler of the exhaust that came loose, though I'm not certain. Is there any way to check without dismantling the whole thing?
Has anyone else experienced such a problem before? It's been bugging me for just over a year now, and I've finally snapped. I need to make it stop!!!
Just for additional information, it's a 200i '96 gen3.
Thanks to anyone who replies in advance!
