The Celica was not broken off from the Corolla, nor did it share a platform with the Corolla. They were never related. The Supra was from the Celica, but the Celica was not from the Corolla.

The name "Supra" first made it's appearance in 1978, and only outside of Japan, the Supra name wasn't used in Japan until 1986.
As for bringing back a name, I don't think it will happen. Toyota has never (that I am aware of) brought back a name after it was determined it was no longer marketable. I doubt they'll start now.
IMO, if anything it will be a grade of a current nameplate (i.e. Corolla GT-S) or a new nameplate altogether, or replace something else (Scion tC anyone?)
