your air is set on fresh air......so its like a ram air....did you notice that the faster you drive the faster the air comes in? its just being pushed in there because the vent is on the outside.
if you close that and turn it to "recirculate" you will notice that no air gets in at all.....because it closed the outside vent and its just recirculating the air inside the cabin.

It's actually pretty nifty when its cold out and you don't wanna turn on your fan. In my car turning the fan on sometimes blows too much even on the lowest setting. It gives me a nice warm breeze with just the vent on warm fresh air when I'm cruising down the highway w/o using the a/c or the fans.
