Clutch and PP are different from 162 to 165 and I'm not sure how the the AWD tranny would transfer all the power in your scenario.
A lot of guys do the 3SGTE + FWD tranny without problems running HP in that neighborhood. I'm not on expert on it, so take it with a grain of salt.
If you can rebuild the tranny, go for it. The 2nd gear synchro is weak and is usually "crunchy" on higher mileage Celicas. You can find used trannys for $50 to $100.
