the 5sfe is going great. no oil burning, starts every day, rock solid, durable...
gas is about 10 L per 100 KM but i drive it like i stole it all the time.
power is decent. but nothing more. mods i made are shaved head and block, fully balanced block, pornt n polished head intake and throttle body, jetchip ecu, custom exaust (2.25'').

if your gonna invest a lot in the engine, get a 3sgte and rebuild it, much more power, or even a 3sgte blacktop or redtop. since rebuilding a turbo engine is much more expensive.

dont expect much power from a 5sfe unless you go turbo (talk to your engine shop before slapping a turbo on your engine, it requires internal mods).

ps: sorry about the very long answer, i didnt log in for a very long time here....

sorry i took so long to answer but i didnt log in to this site for a long time.
the 5sfe is going great. no oil consumption, starts perfectly everytime, fuel is about 10 L per 100Km, so not so great, but i drive it like i stole it all the time, and im pretty sure that my jetcip ecu does waste some fuel too.

to be honest, with the money i invested in this engine compared to a jdm kit (3sge blacktop or 3sgte...). i think i should ave bought a jdm kit. the 5sfe is a great engine, very strong, economical in gas, durable... but power is not so great.

my quarter mile time is around 15.9 to 16.1 seconds. so much better than a stock 5sfe, but way slower than a 3sgte. but of course my convertible is heavier than other models.

How's that 5sfe you rebuilt running ? What was your break in period like? & how's your fuel economy!?
Sorry to bombard on an intro with a ton of questions.
I have a 92 celica kinda got forced into a full rebuild new pistons and oversized rings the whole works. Just curious!
