Warning lights after broken serpentine belt

My brother just had the serpentine belt break on his '05 xB. He replaced the belt and everything seems to be fine, except that there are warning lights on the dash that won't go out. I don't remember specifically which lights are on, but I do know that he said that the only one that went out after he replaced the belt was the battery light.

He has high mileage so he doesn't want to go to the dealer if they just need to be cleared, but he doesn't want to simply get them cleared if there is a possibility that something else could be wrong. So, before he heads to Autozone, he wanted be to look around and see if anyone else has had this problem. He's thinking that there might be a possibility that, when the belt broke, maybe it hit and broke a wire somewhere that he hasn't found yet. He has checked the fuses.

So, does anyone know if it is "normal" for these lights to stay on and thereby safe to just have them cleared?

And, if it is safe to just clear them, can Autozone do that with their handy little code reader? Or can he clear them himself the same way that you clear the maintenance light?

Thanks in advance for any help.

If you go to Autozone have them read out any codes stored and you record them.

If the codes are cleared but the problem still remains the code(s) will return.

Thank you! My initial advice to him was to take it to Autozone and, if the codes were cleared and came back, then he would know that there was a problem, but he wanted me ask someone else first. Funny how big brothers come to little sisters for help, but then they don't trust our answers! LOL
