USA Brake pads XB

Sorry if this is a duplicate, but can I please get some feedback...

I have a 2005 XB with what I feel is mushy brakes. I want to do a quick, easy and cheap upgrade to remedy this.

Any opinion on which brand of stainless line to install?

I think I'm just going to upgrade pads, not rotors, so any input on which brand pads? I don't care about dust, around town driving, moderatly agressive.

Thanks!

If your brakes are "mushy," upgrading isn't what you want. Fixing the problem is what you want. You likely have air in the system or perhaps your soft lines are in need of replacement. Mushy has nothing to do with the pads or rotors.

Nothing when it comes to brakes is a "cheap" upgrade unless you get junk and then you're worse off then where you started.

That's probably how I would describe it... Mushy, then they grab kind of hard. I don't know what type of pads the past owner has on it, and I was planning on bleeding/changing the fluid when I was changing the pads and lines(what kind of fluid?).

I like responsive brakes, will oem be what I'm looking for, or try one of the numerous aftermarket pads?

A different set of pads isn't going to change the mushy feeling. Have you checked to make sure you don't have any leaks? check the rear and make sure the bearing isn't throwing grease in the drums. that would cause a mushy issue since you'd have to apply extra pressure to get them to do anything.
