Did you try to roll it? Sorry I didn't seen this sooner. every once in a GREAT while, the flywheel and the starter just don't engage each other right and you'll get what you're having. Sometimes you can roll the car and get the flywheel to move ever so slightly and that will fix the issue.
If thats not it then you have a few possibilities. Need a new starter, starter relay or ignition switch. If you've got any kind of car alarm that is aftermarket installed, make sure it's not engaging an ignition disable feature.
