I finally got to see what the Yaris "Orange" looks like... I was hoping for something similar to the Aveo's orange... boy was I disappointed... it's like they took the reg red... made it a bit darker + dull... and added a bit of orange to it... very ugly colour I must say... looks like I'll b getting me a dark blue Yaris.
Did anyone else see the orange... wouldn't surprise me if they don't sell all that many.
Maybe the fact that it was cloudy yesterday made a difference... I sort of saw it as a similar brightness to the light blue... I dunno... the non-lit up colour was such a turn off for me.
Yep, because it has been so overcast and rainy, pretty much since the launch of these cars, many have commented that the orange seemed dull and almost milky red...I had predicted since ordering the car in July that it would be similar to Hot Lava on the xB, because mica chips in the paint refract light to create different vibrant hues...
It's still a very unique colour, I'm glad it's not the traditional "Copper" that most automakers are using, Mazda3, Murano...etc...and although I love it, I think it will definitely draw strong response - either love it or hate it...
I guess it comes down to... should I buy it when I love the lit up colour... even though the un-lit colour makes me wanna vomit... ARG car buying is so hard.
I'd be real surprised if they sold even 5 in the US like that.
LOL...Not like us Canucks even care...Since an abysmal failure in the US in the Echo has been one of Toyota's top sellers here...Not to mention the new Yaris (vitz) being the top selling car in Japan since it was introduced in February...
Or right, I forgot, Maxillius just bought a 2005 Sedan Echo...So he's got some styling bias...
I live near silvercity (delta vanc) where they bring cars into, before sending out across country. So i had chance to see all the colors.I thought the copper orange mica looked pretty good.I really liked the absolutely red and blazing blue metallic. The one color i would avoid would be bayou blue metallic (its like a dull blue grey).I was very impressed with the quality of the paint, even black sand pearl showed very little orange peal...
ps: if you go to toyota dealerships in canada they have the 06 brochures out...they are very good at reprinting close to what colors really look like...also real nice quality made brochure...
I see what the problem is. The physical features are very very large for the size of the car. Thin out the lines, make the emblems and lights smaller and keep the shape how it is and it could be quite attractive.
But as it is, the Yaris is the girl that gets one valentine.
