im in the market for a new echo or yaris. i live in london ontario. any idea what dealership would give me the best deal? im willing to travel to save money. our local dealership told me their prices are the exact same as listed on the toyota website.
i was going to buy something used, but according to my calculations i'd be better off to get something new.
With the popularity of the new Yaris, the lack of available inventory and a limited markup you will probably find that there won't be much of a "discount" at any dealer. My advice, is buy from a dealer that is close to where you live and that you feel comfortable dealing with and build a relation with them. If you have any issues with the car they will be more willing to help you because you bought the car from them, than if you purchased it from a dealer 200km away.
Just my 2cents!

If you want a Yaris with a/c then get the B package. For only $500 more you get ABS, power windows and keyless entry (well worth the $$). The difference is that the a/c is factory installed, not installed by Toyota Canada.
Just make sure that the discount they give you is not offset by an admin fee.
Cheers.

You can check the pricing of a vehicle on the website - www.toyota.ca
More importantly - some of the dealers go by Toyota Canada Credit for financing, others have in house dealers which can usually shave 1% off - doesn't sound like a lot? use the calculator on site and you'll see every point counts.
whats so much better about the yaris than the echo? besides being better looking?
im going to look into if i can get a good deal on the 2005 echo.
also, in our household there's 2 people, 2 dogs. we have a minivan. im also wondering if i should get a Smart car. they seems to be almost the same price as the toyotas, and about double as good gas mileage? need opinions.
and: if i do order an echo or yaris, how long does it take til i receive it? i know with the smart car i'd be carless for months.
If you are looking at an optioned up Yaris, that the dealer doesn't have in stock, you will most likely be waiting until January...There are already back-orders for many of the more popular packages...
I ordered my Yaris RS Package B in the last week of July, and got it October 17th...
You'll be hard pressed to get a good deal on even a used Echo at a dealership...You can find some good deals privately though...You can always stipulate in the private sale that you want your Toyota Service Department to Safety, E-Test, and Mechanically/Structurally Check the car prior to purchase, which will not cost very much to ensure the car is in good condition...
The benefits of a Toyota can help and hinder here...While they keep their resale value high, great if you are buying a new one, this makes buying a used Toyota more difficult because they are often priced close to the new prices...You will however save on taxes, PDI, and dealer costs on a used vehicle, which can make it somewhat cheaper as well...
I just bought my New Echo yesterday and we paid $18,000.00 for it, 05's with 17 to 20 thousand are going for between 16 and 17 thousand around here (if you can find one) but then if you factor in a higher interest rate, the payment isn't going to be much difference unless you can get a good deal on interest on the used car.
it is a real pickle to find a used echo with low gas mileage. i've seen listings at $15k for an 05 echo with 50k km on it.
here's my calculations: an average lifespan of a car is 200k, so if one has 50k on it, that's 25% of it's lifespan. so if the 50k one is only 25% less expensive than the brand new one, you might as well get the new one.
i just emailed the dealer and asked for an echo quote and yaris rs.
so there's not much a difference between the yaris and the echo? the echo is cheaper on gas and cheaper to insure anyway. and any opinions about the Smart cars?
