When I picked up my New Echo last Friday it came some nice summer tires that seem to be O.K. for dry roads which would be fine except old man winter is coming around for a visit. I went around to every tire shop in town looking for a good winter tire that isn't soft like a Blizzak tire and I found 2. One is made by Handkook and the other is called a Nordic. My question is what do you all put on your Echo's for the winter? I was also thing of going to 14's over the winter to get a wider varity of tires.

I just bought a set of Pirellis off the same size as my stock s/ms.
they're quiet and grippy.
plus i got them from a chinese place with terrible customer service (they work under the "tell me what you what, i'll give it to you and then you can go" rule)... so they were super cheap. (It's good to be Chinese ^_^V)
Hi guys:
I went to Wally World and bought their supper aggressive snow tires as I do every year! They work well and are cheap!!! Same size exactly as stock for $59 each!!!
If they last a season or two thats great! I get 2 this year and then 2 next year, that way I will put this years tires on the rear next year! I'm too cheap at the moment to buy 4!! Plus with my wifes company thinking of going out....I'll risk it!!
I had Wallymart tires last winter on my car wintermark magnagrips.. they did good and I paid $39 after they went on sale (175/70-13s) I think I'm going with 14s this year though.
I've also owned Nordic Icetracs from Crappy tire.. they were awesome tires!
I'm putting on a set of Toyo G-02's tonight when I get home. I WAS supposed to try out Nokian Hakka2's, but the Nokian dealer only sent two tires instead of four.
Has anyone tried Nokian Hakkapeliitta RSi tires? Are the premium winter tires worth the extra cost or would I be better off just getting a cheap set? Kal Tire quoted me $110ea for the 175/65R14 Nokians which was still somewhat less than Blizzaks.
The road conditions during the winter here are primarily hard packed snow/ice on the residential streets and the occasional glazing on the freeway.

I ran a set of those on my company van and they worked well and lasted fairly well but we had a ton of flat tires with them. I put Canadian Tires Nordic Winter trac's on my Echo and I have drivin in snow with them and the performed better than the Nokians. Oh and they are cheaper to buy than the Nokians as well..

The place is at Bayview and Green Lane (close to bayview and john). As far as I can remember, it's ON green lane, just east of bayview. On the north side of green. You can't miss it (if you drive slowly to look carefully =P)
