What is an ESU?

So my wife was driving her car and the check engine light came on. We check the gas cap and such and everything seemed find, so we left it alone for a week. After a week went by, the light was still on, so we made an appointment to get her car in and checked out. Apparently an Oxygen sensor needed replacing. So the dealership orders the parts. We go back and have the sensor replaced and not two days later the engine light comes on AGAIN!!

So we take the car back to the dealership...the service guys can't seem to figure out what is causing the check engine light to come on. So a call is made out to Toyota Canada. Toyota Canada comes back and wants more diagnostics done. So the Car has to go back into the shop AGAIN!!!

Toyota Canada seems to think that it has something to do with the ESU. I have no idea what an ESU is? Anyone? Also, ever since they replaced the oxygen sensor, I have noticed that my garage has a faint smell of gasoline. I am thinking that now the fuel mixture might be too rich.

This feels like the Domino effect.

Anyone have these sort of problems with their echo?

I would think they meant the ECU, the engine control unit (computer)...
