^^^ congrats though on your new Yaris, yes it's too bad to wait, but I guess it'd be worth it once it comes in. No one can really avoid "waiting" for a new one, since Toyota usually just build x-amount of cars below the x-amount of demand, which keeps them in business on the long run. Otherwise....well, just look at what happened to GM.
Colour choice is also another reason for the wait, the really popular colours or the really unpopular colours are the ones you usually have to wait. The popular ones because they're sold out so fast that the dealer has to ship more of them over, and the unpopular ones because the dealer didn't ship enough of them over in the first place (ie: the Black for the 3dr Echo Hatch is hard to find, or one'll have to wait approx. 3 weeks for delivery, because it's not a popular colour, whereas the Black for 5dr RS is well stocked in dealership lots).
We only had to wait a couple of days for our Yaris to come from another dealer, but the optional rally spoiler and window vents are still on backorder with NO idea of a date when they will come in. Toyota should not list things as an option unless they are readily available, or can at least give a delivery date, especially since the cost of them (over $450 Canadian)was included in cost of the car, which of course we have already PAID for. Oh Well!

I bought mine 2 weeks ago and i should be getting mine on the 28th of Nov. But that was because i wanted a 5 sp 3 door CE with the C packages. My dealer was able to have one sent from Montreal to Toronto with no extra charge. otherwise i was told i would have to wail probable another few weeks.
I bought mine in Windsor ON on November 11 - A Red RS 3DR with the B Package. They told me there was none in Ontario, and the one that they have for me has a November production date. What does that mean? When should I get it.
I went to Guelph ON they had an orange RS 3DR with the B Package, it was really nice but already had 42 KM on it.

mine has nov production date too. looks like late dec, early jan... dam.
I ordered my 2006 yaris back in October, this week my dealer tells me that all their orders have been pushed back until next year when it is re-released here as a 2007. He didn't seem to have any information on pricing or changes...just told me that it would likely be Febuary or March before I saw a car.
Toyota seems to have loads of money to spend on advertising but no cars to sell.
used yaris's will probably be availabe by the time you guys get your new ones.
i saw on auto trader today that they added the name 'yaris' to their toyota model lineup, but no yaris's for sale - yet!
i've somewhat called off my search for a car. maybe i'd be best to wait til spring (im not a good winter driver). and i'll get a better deal by then as well.

I just stopped in at Eastway Toyota. He showed me a Yaris with an October production date that was delivered today. He said that mine was probably going to be very soon, and not after Christmas.

My dealer has about a half a dozen or more on the lot, just not the exact package I want. Lots were coming down the 401 to dealers when I drove to Toronto recently. Where in Canada are you located?
