Rear Bumper Protector/Armrest/Security Upgrade

Hey,

I ordered my Red RS 3 Door B Package. I am still waiting.

I have also ordered the rear bumper protector, the center arm rest and have inquired about the security upgrade.

What is the security upgrade? What does it do. Guelph Toyota told me that it is only available on the 5 DR with the remote entry.

Has anyone else had a good/bad experience with rear bumper protectors?

How do you feel about the center armrests? Any echo owners with this installed?

Thanks

I have a bumper protector on my matrix, it is a black plastic with some oval shaped design to increase looks and friction I guess. It goes on top of the rear bumper to prevent you from scratching it as you unload or load your truck or hatch or boot, works well and does not look too bad.

hi,

I ordered the bumper protector and arm rest for my 06' 5 door, but had to return both.

The bumper protector was labeled on the box and on instruction sheet as 2006+ yaris. But the part in the box was for the echo hatch ("echo HB" was molded on the under side) It would physically fit on the rear bumper, but wasn't the right shape so it didn't look or fit right. I went back to the dealer, and they opened all 6 they had in stock, and all were the same. I have seen promo pictures with the correct piece installed, so hopefully it will be available, although toyota hasn't been able to say when.

The arm rest I received appears to be the same as the one offered for the Scion Xa & Xb, but again repackaged for the yaris. As such, the color and texture of the plastic and fabric were completely different than the yaris interior. It is supposed to fit into the rear cup holder, then a hold down wire secures it by hooking in to the seat tracks on each side. It physically fit into the cup holder, but didn't match the contour of the console, so was very loose. Also, the holddown was not the correct shape to fit around the console, and did not line up with the seat tracks, so there was no way of securing it. There were notches hand cut in the plastic to fit around the cd pocket, so it is obvious toyota just hacked this together to have it available for yaris' release date.

I would say order them but ask to see the parts before they install them, and return them if they aren't correct. I ordered both parts the week after the yaris was released, so hopefully these problems will be solved soon. But overall I have been very disappointed with the support from toyota since I bought my car.

Thanks so much for the info. I just called the dealer and had both parts cancelled.

Thanks for the pics. This part does not match. This looks awful. I would never have this in my Yaris. God!

I also ordered the armrest, but more out of need, as I have a bad right shoulder and have to have my arm resting on something. Looks a little cheap for what it cost, but what can ya do. I will get the bumper protector only if I find the bumper getting scratched, otherwise why bother. I am still waitng for the rear rally spoiler, almost a month now and still no word from Toyota as to a delivery date

Does the trim match the RS fabric and plastic?

YUP,although it could be a bit lower, and if a person was to have the seat all the way forward it may not be very usable.

I would if I could, but I only just got a digital camera,(my first one) and am still trying to figure out how to post pics, but the pics posted by "j8smith" look like mine except I have the sport seats so the armrest colour matches, where as the seats in j8smiths appear to be the regular seats
