Question Automatic transmission of Toyota Vitz

Hi,
I'm new to automatic transmission, I had been using manual. I just got Toyota Vitz of 2002, Just would like to know what do these 3 Gear means which are labeled "D", "2", "L", and what are the implications; when to use D, when to use L and when to use 2.

Unfortunately, I got this reconditioned car, and I dont have owner's manual and buying from eBay is not that easy in my country.

Would anyone please answer to me, any help would really be appreciated.

D = Drive. The car will choose which gear it wants to use.

2= 2nd gear. The car will stay in 2nd gear no matter what.

L= Low gear, or 1st gear. The car will stay in 1st gear no matter what.

You should almost always keep the car in Drive. L should be used only for very low speed conditions, and 2 for the slightly faster low speed conditions.
