Canada Yaris back speakers problem

A proud new owner of a 2006 Yaris RS 5 door in white! However I don't seem to be getting much sound from the factory back speakers!!! Took it to the dealership (Victoria) to get it checked out and the first guy who listened agreed but when we took it in to get fixed (they thought the wires may not be insulated or something) they could find nothing wrong and said it must be where the speakers are positioned that makes them quiet. In order to balance the sound the fader setting is at R-5 and the volume setting at 36.
According to the dealership the 2 door models don't have this problem as the speakers are situated higher?
Can anybody out there verify any of this or has anybody have the same experience? We would like to get something done at the dealership if it is a problem with the speakers themselves or take it to a car stereo store for a second opinion.
Other than this we love our Yaris!

thanks for any replies

I have a 5 Door RS, mine sounds fine, I keep the fader at 0...

Check the equalizer setting for the stereo, it can be set for different cars ie: hatchback, minivan etc... I have it set to OFF, and it sounds fine...

Also, try turning on the surround button, it makes the sound fuller...

Cheers

Thanks for the reply.
I have tried all the different settings but none of them seem to make a difference to the back speaker volume other than the setting of the fader to R-5

If the fader is at 0 then there is virtually no sound from the back speakers at all.

Unfortunately our dealership cannot replace any of the components unless they can see there is a problem and so far we can't prove that this is a problem.

thanks

My back speakers (5 door model) are also a little low on the volume side when compared to the front speakers. The kids tell me to turn up the volume when then are back there. No problem with the front speakers. I've adjusting the fader from full front to full back and the level of sound in the back is much lower.

the 07 is out now and the car is the same. have the dealer compair it with one on the lot and have them PROVE to you that the sound and setting are the same. If they do not want to be helpful in the matter go to anouther Toyota dealership for a second opinion OR call TCI.

thank you all for your replies......

I think we will go back to the dealership and do a comparison with a 2007 5-door RS. If nothing more it will satisfy my curiosity and make me feel that I'm not losing my hearing!!

will post the outcome for any who may be interested in what we find out

also more replies welcome, would like to know if anybody else has the same experience.....

2006 5dr Yaris. At 0 fader can't really make out the rears from the front seats. Leaving volume fixed and go max front then max rear with the fader, front are considerably louder. Rears also sound more muffled or muddy than the fronts.

I have the 07 Yaris, THe rear speaker does sound like they have no sounds to me. They do have sounds, I just think it's the front seats keeping the rear sound from behind.
