Just wondering if anyone knows where the Yaris is built? I have heard france can anyone confirm.

North American Yaris is built in Japan. Europe may get French built. BTW it was designed in France.

Mine is built in Thailand....asian specs and shipped/assembled in Indonesia.....i think........thats what i heard.....

Mine from Japan, dealer did a trace at purchase and showed just loaded on a boat there.

Thanks everyone. I also heard from my dealer that it was built in Japan but a KNOW IT ALL GUY was SOOOOOOO pos. that it was built in france. lol thanks again.

If the first digit of your VIN is J it is built in Japan. If the first digit is 2 it is built in Canada.
If it is 3, 4 or 5 it is built in the USA.

okay so what if it is this J T D K T?????? so I already know what the J and the T mean Than a bunch of numbers which I will not give out for Security reasons

1 Country
2 Manufacturer
3 Vehicle Type or Manufacturing Division
4-8 chassis code, transmission, engine, other features such as limited slip or not etc
9 Checksum digit to ensure prior information is valid
10 model year
11 assembly plant
12+ sequential production number

That list only applies to newer Toyotas. I don't know what year they changed it over, but it has to have been after 98.

KT as stated above must be the signation for a Yaris Hatch?

As an example Gen5 Camry LEs with the 4sp auto should be BE32K I think. I have to check later...
