Canada Questions???? Comments??? Concerns??

Well once again I decided to start a new thread I Hate doing this as their is already to many threads I thought for New Yaris owners/old Yaris owners with their 2006s this would be good I think it would be good for Yaris owners to vent or comment on their new cars/old or just anything about them here is my first question I have noticed with my Yaris is the car does not like to glide as soon as I let off the pedal/accelerator the car likes to slow right down I know the engine has this smart engine thing that when it goes up hills or down it puts it in some special gear something like that anyways would this be why it does not glide very well Comment time I don’t know about you guys but that stupid stupid I guess it’s a good idea but I hate it seatbelt noise does that not drive you guys crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I read in the hand book you can turn it off but you need to take it to the Toyota Dealer but I am sure if you are mechanically inclined you could do it yourself anyways it is a good thing safe wise but I’m sorryyyyyyyyyyy sometimes I just don’t want to put the thing on I know I am the stupid one but it should be my choice to put it on or not stupid noise eeeeeerrrrrrrrrr

Well I am using my thread that I made lol but I made it for questions like this one with regards to your first oil change I was chatting with a couple acquaintances and they have told me it may be a good idea to get your oil changed at around 4000/6000 km instead of waiting for 8000km which it says on are maintenance schedule but after that they say follow what it says the reason for the earlier oil change is because it's a new engine it may have this and that in it anyways what do you guys think

Hi,

Many new cars state to change the oil at 8k but I never do. I alway's do it around the 5k mark.
If you use just regular plain oil then your better off doing it at the 5k mark. for the cost of a $35 buck change with tax you know that you'll get the most out that little engine.
Just my 2 cents.

On the first oil change they might put in special additives and request that you don't change it.
VW is that way for the higher output engines, they come broken in from the factory but they have some additives. they will tell you not to change the oil until 8k then you can go to 5k if you want although they use the same 8k schedule as toyota.

Does anybody have a copy of the maintenance schedule for the Yaris? I just picked up a 2007 5dr Le (B package) with manual trans, and it didn't come with a maintenance schedule. I know you can go onto the toyota.ca site, but I'd rather have something that I can keep in the car with all of the maintenance info.

Any help in appreciated.

Thanks

Hello all. I would recommend following the scheduled maintainence for oil changes at 8k. By changing the oil more often than is required, you are wasting your money. Good quality oil and filter will protect your engine to 8k easily. If paying more for engine protection doesn't bother you, I would suggest a switch to synthetic oil instead.

The benefits to your engine by using synthetic oil will a better use for your money than more frequent oil changes. I plan on using synthetic for the 8k intervals until my warranty runs out. Synthetic oil is good for much longer service, so I plan on stretching out the interval as long as possible. My UK ford fiesta went 12k miles between oil changes on synthetic.

Sorry pktrkt I have not gotten around to typing out the maintenance schedule but I will for sure get on it X_enginerd I have been told by very reliable sources that it is better to do your first oil change on a new car sooner than later because the new engine may have some metal particles in it with the synthetic oil stuff I will ask the people when I get it done if it is the better choice does it cost more or something and finially I don’t know if this is just me but I find people are posting way to many new threads there is like 8 new threads since I was last here does that drive anyone crazy

I don't have any advice since I don't have or use one, I get around with just a regular map book, although a sat-nav would come in handy in some cases.

I'd say you should go check out Price Costco if you have a membership. I remember they're selling a sat-nav unit for a couple of hundred bucks, but it should do whatever you wanted in terms of navigation. I don't know the brand, but to my recollection they only sell that one brand. If not, then check out Future Shop or Best Buy, they must have something there as well.

Regarding real tips, I can't think of any since I don't use one, but you should certainly get one that is at least powered by the adaptor where you can plug into the cigarette lighter. If you can get one with both cigarette lighter adaptor and battery power would be better, in case you wanna use it elsewhere other than inside a car. Other than that, I dunno what else to say, maybe someone else who've bought and used one might be better for giving real world advice.
