07 Yaris S Sedan

Hey guys, I live in CA. New guy here.

Looking to buy a cheap affordable TOYOTA car.. The only car brand my parents would ever let me buy. We have like 7 cars total in the family. All TOYOTA. Who would of guessed. haha. NO, we're not rich! Just, well, was a big family.. mostly old TOYOTA's like 87 supra, 95 celica, tercel, etc... anyways..

Well, I am looking to buy a new car. I want to know if this car, the 07 Yaris S Sedan is available for the US, specifically CA. LA area. I have never seen this car ever... I've already seen a couple 07 Camry's already.

Anyways, any replies is appreciated.

Yes, they are at the Dealers already. Go visit one. Call ahead to make sure they have a S in the color and option you want. Go test drive it and come back and write a little review.. =)

Great! Thanks for the information.

Well, I have another favor to ask. This would be my real first car if I do choose to get it... So I was wandering, How much do you guys approximately pay for insurance?

Call your insurance and ask them, if you didn't pay or have car insurance before, when you go looking for car insurance call around and ask what rates they give, they'll ask you what car you're interested in or plan on purchasing. Tell them what kind of car it is, color and stuff like that. Yes even color has an effect on your rates, believe it or not-(but it depends on the insurance agency). Also year of the car. For a new car, at least in my experience you have to get full coverage, if your financing, then again if you buy it out I would still get full coverage cause its a brand new car. The size and class of car will effect your insurance. The car I currently own is my first car I bought brand spankin' new and financed. Obviously being an ECHO, I paid just north of $100 per month for full coverage, which isn't bad considering its a new car, but I like a mentioned I think it was that "cheap" because it was a subcompact, not a SUV or full size car or sports/sporty car-ya know what I'm saying? Obviously it also depends on your driving record, age and how long you have been driving-whew! So many reasons! Right now I don't pay as much on my car as I did when I first got it, the factors are: age, no driving tickets (yet ), and age of the car itself, as the value of the car goes down, so will the full coverage. I think even the area you live in or region might have an effect on your rates, but don't quote me on that. Well you probably wanted a simple anwser and I gave you a novel! SORRY! Just trying to help. This is just a brief overview, so its not set in stone. I hope that helps!

P.S. If you do get it, post pictures and tells us about it! Buying experience and all! I think if you do get the Yaris S sedan you will be the first on this board, from what I observed.
Good luck!!!

Yeah yeah yeah! (joyously, not shrugging it off). Haha it'll be sweet if I was the first one. I just never liked hatchbackED cars.. like the other Yaris.

Haha great. Wow 100? That is very cheap.

Well, the reason I ask is because right now I am paying aprrox. 187 for my 95 Celica.

I'm turning 20. Been with this insurance company for about 2 years... To me that is a lot. I have heard of people paying like 50-60 bucks.. not the same car obviously..

But my very first guess with insurance is that the newer the more expensive... So I mean I know that all those factors come in to determine the rate of the insurance... but I mean I just want to know like an average..

What I am guessing at is.. ~300? Maybe? For insurance? Or is that too much? Or not enough.

I would just like to know.. like get an idea.. i mean it doesn't matter. if everyone would let me know.. so I would have an idea of how much it would be costing so I dont get ripped off of a deal or anything like that.

Would this be a good price/offer? What are you guys planning or paying on?

I know it depends on what you get but yes that is a great price, especially for the "S" trim. I believe that's the top of the line for the Yaris sedan...so you're getting a heck of deal! From what I read, other people got quoted from around 14,500 to just above 16k-it varies and it depends on the dealer as well. I guess if you go through the internet and pick up your car in person, you will pay less than if you did all the paperwork and what not in person-generally I believe-at least for Toyota. There's a program for the dealer I live by where they have the "internet guys" and you can get quoted below or lower than invoice.
As far as insurance, the one you quoted, I personally think that is a little high (approx. $170.00) even for full coverage on a car like that. It might have to do with the fact you're going with the top model rather than lower trim, but I don't think that will factor in too much. You're paying $187 for your 95 Celica? That seems awefully high for a car that old, unless its a really special Celica Full coverage I assume? But even then I think that is way too high. May I ask what insurance you're going through? I'm going through StateFarm, I believe its national, regardless I'm not saying its for you or not for you, that's totally up to you. Well here's my guess, since you asked for it. I'd say for a brand new Yaris S sedan, at least $120 to $150 at the most for your insurance-full coverage. Maybe I'm just spoiled and got lower rates. I've only owned two cars (including the one I own now). But if the insurance is higher than what I guessed it should be...remember its insurance, they want all your money but don't want to spend it when the time is needed (I'm over generalizing)-get my drift?
But like you said you obviously don't want to get ripped off, so shop around, get quotes, let the competition know what other insurance companies quoted you. Ask advice from friends and relatives who might have owned or do own a new or newer car as tell them what you're paying sounds about right or is it too high. Hope that helps! Oops! I did a novel again didn't I? hee, hee.

Thanks for the tips!

Well, the reason I had that 187 is because it was my first insurance and first car.. no prior insurance? I guess. And no, its not full coverage. just liability, or 15/30 or whatever it is.. half coverage.. hehe.. And yeah I always thought it was too much..

Anyways, I contacted them back regards to the Yaris whether it had the fog lights, and all those other goodies... but they seem like robots, no matter what I say it's "What we have for the car is as listed there"

Then.. someone said that he would recommend me to go in and have a test drive.. and that kinda thing.. so yea.. I mean i dont mind going in for a test drive... however, I just would like the options and would not prefer a special order..

In either case... do anyone know of they charge extra for special orders?
And how come you guys are getting such cheap insurance rates. I shopped around and what I am paying for half, seems like you guys are paying for full. Thanks.

You know you need full coverage for a financed or leased vehicle?

It blows my mind that $100/month is cheap to you people! lol I pay $50/month for my loaded '05 Taco DC 4x4. $50/month for my '04 Blazer ZR2, $25/month for my '01 Harley Sportster 1200 Custom...all full coverage. Got my little '90 Mazda 323 beater car I pay $25/month for too....

I pity young people today.......
