Exclamation Test Driving

Hey guys, sorry for all the new threads started lately by me.

However, I have never went in for a test drive or anything. I may be going in for one this weekend. A reply would be greatly appreciated.

What is the process? Is there one of their salesperson there with you in the test drive? Or will they let you drive by yourself? Any paper or anything I need to sign? etc.

That depends. I have never had the salesperson with me, and once I didn't even have to sign for the car! (I knew the salesperson, but still...)

Yes, the salesperson will usually come along (and in my experience, they often drive the car off the lot first and then park the car and switch seats with you). They'll probably want a copy of your driver's license, but that's it. I find they're usually pretty eager to get you behind the wheel - it's one step closer to having you buy the car! I always find some little stretch of road where I can take it to redline and row through the gears as quick as I can, and take a few corners as quick as I dare (you know you're going quick enough if you manage to get a bit of tire squeal). I've never had any complaints from the sales guys when I drive the car hard, but I've gotten a few funny looks and comments (like "you drive like a race car driver!").
