Please help this n008!

Hey folks!

I'm shopping for parts for my 2005 Echo RS and I'm encountering a few glitches.

1. Many manufacturers / dealers only list parts for the Echo sedan. How different is the Echo sedan engine from the Echo hatch? (Canadian version of the car, BTW.)

2. Many manufacturers / dealers only list parts for Echos from 2000-2004. How different is the engine of a 2004 Echo hatch and a 2005 Echo hatch?

3. Many manufacturers / dealers don't list the Echo at all, but list parts for the Scion xA. How different are the engines of a 2005 Scion xA and and a 2005 Echo hatch?

I'm just worried about getting a great deal online and then finding out that it doesn't fit my Canadian 2005 Echo RS.

In particular, I'm looking at cold air intakes, exhaust systems and lowering springs.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Eventhough I don't live in Canada, I do know that the ECHO hatch has the same exact engine as the sedan varient. As far as 04-05 hatches, they should be the same exact engine as its only a year difference, I see no reason it would be different. The xA shares the same powertrain, at least as far as engine as the ECHO sedan and hatch, the same 1.5ltr 108bhp 105ft tourqe-of course its different under the new SAE numbers, but its still the same engine. As far as transmission, that could be different. But I'm guessing your more concerned with the engine. As far as I know, its the same engine...maybe someone else can confirm it for you as well. Well to be safe, keep the recites and look up warrenties and money back stuff. Have you thought about going through TRD? Look at their website, even if the ECHO hatch is not being produced anymore they should have aftermarket stuff for it, especially since you have the RS trim. I hope that helps!! Good luck!!

Yaris Parts

Dont buy engine related parts for your new Yaris meant for the 2001-2004/5 echo they will not fit. Toyota started anew with the Yaris. There are similar parts around but similar is a general term.
The Scion xA has a different engine so you wont have any luck but the Scion xB has the EXACT same engine and most parts should fit.
The simialr xB platform has been around a couple years and has plenty of aftermarket parts but be carefull since a lot of them are generic and dont fit well to begin with or are poor quality. I bought a cold air intake that I tossed because of this. Alot more parts will become available since the Yaris is now offered in the US.
Good luck with the parts search.

Well, in the U.S., the xA/xB have the EXACT same engine. All parts I've seen listed are for both such as intakes, supercharger kits etc. even suspension. Now, if only we knew if the xA/xB parts fit a Yaris for sure. Remember, these cars tend to be different in every region. Europe and Japan look like they get 1.0 and 1.3l engines in the more basic models, with the 1.5 being used in the RS models. Is this true for Canada as well? The U.S. gets the 1.5 in all models, with bells and whistles added when stepping up to the S-Type. I am a noob when it comes to the Yaris also, so hopefully we can learn soemthing from a brave soul that has tried xA/xB parts on their brand new Yaris.
