07 Yaris Cabin Air Filter

I have a new 07 Yaris "S sedan with the power package. According to the owners manual some models come with a cabin air filter installed, but mine does not have one installed. I think it is just the Canadian models that have this installed. Can someone give me the part number or manufacturers number for the 07 filter? I took the glove box out and it appears everything is there except the filter. Thanks.

Cabin Air Filter

I intended to post this several weeks ago. The Toyota PN for this filter is 87319-52020. It took my dealer several weeks to get this filter. It is a flexible type filter, that is, it doesn't have a rigid frame around it. It is easy to install.

Is it just a thin white one with ridges, no frame? Looks like it should have only cost $10? The part number I'd found was 88568-52010-83, which is the same cabin filter used in the Xa/Xb/Rav4.. I wonder what if any diffrence there is? Dang dealer near me wanted $35 for the dang flimsy thing! For that much money I thought the cabin filter would have more to it... Any chance you have a pict of the one you got?

No, I don't have a picture of it, but your description sounds just like it. I think it is used in the Rav4, but the PN's are not the same. Dealer wanted $32.00 for it and I managed to get 10% off. I hope that Micron Air or Purolator or some company will have an after market model soon. I need to use the Rav4 PN and see if some of the after market filters come back for that number. Maybe they are the same, just different PN's.

There should be a frame "box" in which the flexible filter sits. The frame stays with the car and you change the filter.

Try MicronAir. I know they have air filters that are much cheaper than what the dealer charges and are actually better filters (particulate vs Toyota's dust & pollen).

Heck, the old Echo might even fit in the new Yaris.

Last time I was buying filters and oil for our cars, I noticed the chart listed one of these in-cabin air filters for her '05 xA. Since I was unable to get a copy of the service manual can someone let me know when the recommended change is?

Anyone know how to replace the cabin filter on a 07 Yaris?

The Dealers want to replace the thing at every other oil change. Which is about once every 3/4 month for me. Personally, I'd rather save the money towards a new double din DVD system I'm planning for my Yaris. So, If I can find cheap aftermarket filter and do the job myself, it'd help.

For most toyotas, you squeeze the glovebox so the pegs that keep it off the passenger's lap fit through, and you will see the blower fan and filter assembly. There should be a grey plastic drawer (the filter frame) that you can take out back there and in goes the filter. Fairly simple on every one I've changed.

Your market may differ, but Canadian echo's never had a filter. They can be added as we have the tray. You may have one stock, which needs replacement from time to time, but if like us you don't, there's nothing to clean.

I certainly hope so. In 16,000km service appointment, which was basically an oil change and cabin filter change, I saw the mechanic digging around the glove box area with a new filer in hand and then I went back to my coffee while in the waiting room, so I didn't get to see the actual work being done. Mine's a 5dr liftback LE with the power package.

Strange, the Echo had the tray for the cabin air filter, and I just went out and bought a regular filter at the store and cut it down to put in there. Looks like the Yaris does not have the actual tray to set the filter in anymore.

I agree it's a bit of a scam on Toyota's part - way too much money for a flimsy little filter.

I was just going to suggest buying a decent 3M central air filter and cutting it down, adding duct tape to reinforce the cut edges, but you beat me to it. I have seen the arguement that our air system isn't strong enough for a filter...but then you have the partnumber for it. I still need to make one for my Yaris.

1) Echo 88568-52010-83
2) Yaris 87139-02090
Both are $32.95 from Toyota

1) Pollen Filter: The standard filter that is designed to capture particles including
pollen, dust and other allergens.
2) Electrostatic Filter: While an Electrostatic Filter functions much like a Pollen
Filter, it also holds a static charge that captures smaller particles like asbestos
and dust.

Toyota may suggest to change it every 2nd oil change but that is a guidline, it's an air filter that you change when it's dirty.
It should come standard on all Canadian models that come with factory A/C.
