But there are a few questions I have that I haven't seen anyone ask
First of all, i'm wondering if the yaris is "for me"..I'm 20 and want to to buy a new car to establish a line of credit for myself...I also want a new car because well..i'd rather not have to worry about someone else's headache and the yaris happens to be in the perfect price range for me (I can put around $3000 down) If you guys can get me any info on engine mods to increase power and the like that would be great cause I would love to fix up this car! btw i'm lookin at the 3-door liftback...also I'm curious about the insurance rates on the car because it's so new to the states..so anwyay..my big question is more about insurance rates and is this car right for me?
Well u can mod up the yaris full on............just need to know where to look....though the engine might be of a prob, such a tiny engine.....and hood.....so u'll need to look into a much more powerfull small VVTI Engine...or sumfin like that
With insurance wise....if ur a good driver and dont crash, u have nothing to worry about, but if u do get into a crash and it wasnt ur fault....then yah, the other guy has to pay for it
p.s expect late replies in this forums...not many people reply....
Xiemperrorix you cant expect a reply in an hour but people will answer just give them some time anyways I am a little older than you XiemperorIx I got a four door Yaris Hatch but I know they unfortunately don’t offer that in the U.S. but if you don’t mind having a two door hatch than this is a perfect car for you I don’t personally modify stuff I like it the way it is but with the insurance the rates they are very good this is a new car in North America I pay around 2100 a year CND if you would like to learn more about the Yaris just let me know I will post a bunch of articles about it glad to see you may join the family
Stuts are you over 25??? I am paying under 900CAD for my Yaris with Meloche Monnex. Maybe you should check them out. Granted I have no accidents and an engineer's discount, but still!
thanks! This will be my first new car (and financial responsibility ) if it's what i decide on..so far this car is what my sites are set 2! any of you have experience with ford focus? the ZX3 is in a pretty similar price range so i was just wondering if you guys have any comments or comparisons! although i'd still prefer a toyota over a ford

I put 3000 miles on a rental ford focus in the UK last year. It was certainly a better car to drive than the Yaris, and more confortable as well. There were four of us and our gear and everything fit. I don't think that would be the case with a Yaris. The car had a 1.8L engine which is smaller than what is available in NA. Fuel economy was not very good, I didn't keep track closely, but we only got about 300miles on a tank. And petrol there costs near $8/gallon!
The Yaris will be more trouble-free than a Focus, but I would say the focus is a better allrounder. You should also be able to get a better deal on the price of a focus. And get the 5door if you can.
Well im from aust and only pay 1100 AUD per yr......
funny cuz my yaris is 1 month old and i only done 1000km on it and the fucking battery died...i cannot turn on the car, my lights are weak.........the shit thing is, i have to get it towed tomrrow and take it to my local service centre to check whats wrong with it.......stupid battery, new car and already the battery died.......and no i didnt leave the head lights on.......or anything on.....i just went to my car like any normal day and boom, my remote key didnt open the doors, i had to open it manually.....and it didnt start......arrg that pissed me off hardcore......
but yer yaris is a good car.........tiny outside big inside......funny hey
Instead of going to a dealer I thought I should ask this as well...i want my payments to be between $250-$300 (less would be nice but thats ideal for me) and since I have no credit rating assume my APR is super high (Toyota.com said 16.5%) how much do you guys think I should put down to get in that range? I did the numbers on Toyota and it said $3000 would be fine but then when I go to edmunds.com they added in all the tax and crap and it came out to more like $360

It depends on what model, I know your getting or considering the 3-door liftback but the question how "loaded" up are you going to get it? So that effects the price obviously which in turns determines how much you pay per month, of course there's more to it. For me personally I didn't put a down payment on my ECHO, I wish I did but my payments came out to around 260 per month, I guess I got lucky, depending how you see it. You mentioned that you didn't have a credit line? As you found out it effected your rate, I think one of the reasons I got that rate is because I established a credit line and I was your age at the time and my credit was and still is good. I think it depends on the dealer and what your paying msrp and probably area, I better not say too much cause I'm not too sure on this subject as far as technicalities.

The Focus can be a bad choice. Especially if your not getting a new one. If it doesn't have a Duratech engine, your screwing yourself over. Not to mention the three variations of the engine(stay away from 20E, unless your in California then you have no choice) my mom cosigned for me to get my yaris and she filed bankruptsy two years ago and I only got 12% apr. my payments are only 276usd and my insurance is out the wazzuu. Cause Im 18 male and had a WRECK. thats the main reason is cause the wreck. I pay 209 a month. but when i turn 21 it all goes down. Oh by the way i only put 1000usd as a downpayment

the yaris shares the same suspension setup for the xb, xa, echo and vitz... I would suggest getting that car if you cant get yourself into a cheaper used echo ...
