I live in costa rica and i want to get some 15 to 20 HP more on my 1.5 1nz engine, cos i like to drive it hard on the curvy roads of our mountain crossed country, I would like to start with electronic devices such as E.C.U. etc. can u advice what to use and where to buy.?
I have already installed a used and rebuilted rally suspencion made for a Toyota Celica that was made originally in argentina by baratero. And have improved handling like 60%, then it will get some brake up-grade, but don´t know any thing about engine remap etc.
I wouldn't trust any of those.. the first one all it does is cause more fuel to be dumped in, makes the car run rich. The second one just advances the timing, might have to run premium then to prevent ping/knock. The third who knows what it does, but it's probably along the same lines. yes, they may add a few HP, but they are not ballanced systems. I'd start with the basics first - exaust, intake. Usualy cheap fixes are just that, cheap fixes - and may cause expensive repairs. Plus none of them are by a major manufacture. I'd at least want something that wasn't built in sombody's home garage, and sold on e-bay. For the most part from what I've seen, chip mod's don't realy do anything or help on a stock toyota engines - they can help on modified engines though. But you have to know what you are doing and correctly tune them. The US Yaris I'm pretty sure had been detuned a bit for gas milage, so there might be some tweaks that could boost it a bit, but you will lose the milage.
I recommend taking a pick axe and adding some "speed holes" to your hood/bonnet. I believe a minimum of 10 centimetres distance between speed holes are required to maintain dynamic similarity over the hood surface. I would ignore ECHOKnight2000's oversized wing suggestion, as speed holes are a more cost effective option to increasing Yaris performance. However I have added a lighting bolt with flame decal to the hood and have noted a 10% improvement in performance.

Since no one seems to have any advice I would recommend trying this forum, It is a South America/Chile part of Echofans, and is very active....

Mr friend from Costa Rica my advice to raise your horsepower is as follows I 100% guarantee it will work you must go to the website to find out how to do it
p.s. hope you have money
Try and find a cat back exhaust, and a better intake system, even if it is just a k&n filter. ecu flash won't be really neccessary if you don't have alot done. I have seen anything like rollerrockers or port and polished heads around here so your pretty limited to what I said. And the blitz thing. Personaly if you have some money, get your intake manifold port and polished to matche the engine block, and find some headers or do the same to the exhaust manifold.
