Does anyone realize.....

Does anyone know that when they start their engine, we only need to turn the key and release right away and that's it? We don't need to wait till the engine started. It will start on its own. It's like an electrical starter but only use a key.

What he means is, you don't have to keep holding the key at the start position until the engine kicks in, like most cars. You can just even tap it over the the start and let go, and the computer will keep cranking the starter until the engine starts. It's almost like push button start. Handy on cold mornings..

Thanks. I have also noticed this feature and have been taking advantage of it too. It is called the "Cranking hold function" on the Candian Yaris HB owner's manual, Page 208. In my humble opinion, besides all that have been said about it, because of its almost sure start ability, this feature may also help avoid over cranking, which may flood the engine (described in another context on Page 222 of the manual) .

Before I let anyone drive my car I let them know about that. And I use it everyday.

I learned about this on accident and was like, "WHOAH!!!" and now I use it exclusively. I even forgot about it when I went to start my other car. It didn't do it. :-( Now, does anybody know if it will keep cranking if you hold the key past when it starts or if you can attempt to start it after it's already been running? (hell no, I'm not going to try this. But if someone's going to go test drive one, I wanna know if it does it.)
