Okay I'll admit im one of those people who dosent read the entire manual
So the other day im looking for places to mount my garage door opener in my yaris and I found the secret 3rd glove box. Sorry I was excited as the salesperson didnt even tell me it was there and i thought it was really cool.
Incase there are more like me out there its on the dash above/behind the steering wheel
there is that one.... ok pretend that your factory upper glove box was on the driver side of the car. thats where it is. if you look where on a normal car the speedo etc would be its right there. I believe the handle to open it is right next to the drivers cup holder.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the compartment you are referring to is only found on the hatch er liftback...the sedan I believe doesn't have a glove box or storage behind the steering wheel...maybe that's where the confusion is... PEACE!

Correct - Only the hatchback has the extra glove box infront of the steering wheel. The sedans do not have it. They could have easily put one there though, I don't know why they dropped it for the sedan..
For starters the hatch and the sedan have different dashes, sure they are the same in overall concept of center stack but from then on its different...as the sedan is bigger (wide) and the center piece on the sedan is different set up...I don't know why Toyota decided to do that...my guess is the sedan is bigger and the hatch being "smaller" makes up for that for extra storage? Not much of a compromise but also maybe its cooler, okay now I'm talking out of my butt That's my guess...

Actualy the sedan is thinner than the hatch but they had to compensate for the length. The hatch is .2" wider... and it sits lower.

Blueberry you are kidding me right dude how could you not see that

Sorry I need to explain myself Blueberry in the other thread in this forum you said this “The drivers side wiper throws water etc onto the passenger side. so i usually need to do an extra wipe.
When it rains or you use a lot of windsheild cleaner all the water/cleaner builds and sits in the bottom of the side quarter windows. Im hoping it doesnt develop into anything in the future.” That is one thing that was pissing you off about the Yaris that is my reasoning for posting my last post you noticed about the windsheild thing but not a storage box no one is perfect I guess
If you would forgive me for referring to the owner's manual again, the locations of all the glove boxes, auxiliary boxes and cup/bottle holders are shown on Page 171-174 of my 06 HB's manual (I am in Canada). Same information should presumably be found in the manuals for the 07 models, including sedans.
I only counted 12 compartments including using the top dash for the back as a compartment....where the other 8
