Yaris with 2zz Pic?

Wow. This empressive. Putting a 1.8l into a 1.5l. I think within a year, i am just going to beef up the internals. Im pretty sure this is a well 15-25k swap dont you think? Unless you find a junk motor and do most of the work yourself. I would think the 1zz swap will be alot easier and cheaper. The 2zz project requires that you should cut up the strut tower, frame rails and the firewall, fitting the 6-speed gearbox etc. My opinion dont do it. But some people are doing it, and I respect them looks nice, if you have the money. Cons cant put a turbo in this. Wouldnt fit, unless you have an exhaust turbo. But to save you some time and money, just modify the yaris/echo rebuild the engine, stronger internals.

Or you can try to source a stock 1NZ-FTE (from the Vitz RS Turbo) and swap it in, install a larger intercooler and turbo, while keeping the driving dynamics intact.

^^^ Other than Japan, I dunno. It'll definitely cost money to source a JDM turbo 1NZ, but that's obvious. I wonder if it's a straightforward swap into a North American Echo hatchback, dunno if there's any minute difference that make the swap incompatible.

Yea, the 1nz-fe vitz is the same motor as the yaris, just with turbo. I think buying a turbo kit from over here would be the same. Just gotta tune it properly.

^^^ True. Haven't heard anyone here with a turbo-tuned 1NZ, mostly are just supercharged. I think if you go the turbo route then common sense dictates that it'd be wise to hire a specialist to do the install and the tuning, unless you know how to do all that yourself which will save you quite a few bucks.

From my not-so-educated guessimate, the boosted 1NZ should yield around 250 reliable horsepower (given forged internals and beefed up bottom ends), which is more than plenty. More power can be had but more components need to be beefed up, plus intercooler and fuel system with higher capacities, and uprated braking system and drivetrain (clutch and LSD) as well. This will seriously get expensive, which depends on how serious you are.

I'd say go lighten the car first (take away backseats, spare tire and even the interior trims) and see how it goes.

Yea, I pretty sure with 250hp, it will be in the low13's or mid 13's, with street tires and a nice suspension setup. Ive seen honda hatchbacks go in the with around 250hp. Just emagine, the integras with gsr motors run a decent high/mids 14's. And the yeild atleast 170-bhp. And swapping it into a hatch will easily get you in the 13's or defintaley low 14's. Such a light car, with full interior. Nah Im not going to remove, the rear seat but I would remove the spare tire, tools. .
