The sedan is priced $11,925 on Toyota website but I called the local dealers and they told me they don't have the cheapest model. Why not? Is it common? How can I get the cheapest model?
I have contacted several local dealers and they all refused to order an basic model for me. The least expensive 4-door Yaris is $13900. It is too expensive for me because it's my first car in my life.
Perhaps you should pen a letter to Toyota corporate sales regarding the issue, and mention the dealers that are refusing to sell you a car. You might be surprised how quickly they call you back with one that they "found".
You might also head over to Honda and see if they'll do a fit up for you in the same price range if your Toyota dealers are that problematic. If they are giving you a hassle on purchasing a vehicle, I'd hate to see how the service departments will treat you.
First they don't make much on these cars....plus at the moment most are coming in with convience package I'm not sure about the sedan. Anyway even if you find a "base" sedan and it starts at X amount, you're never going to pay that new...that's just it, its a starting price NOT FINAL. Your transactions and taxes and b.s. fees will always have the final price above the base but hopefully not too much. But I don't think dealers should turn you away at the same time. I've heard that you have to special order if you want it "base." Anyway I wish you luck and as suggested, contact Toyota corporate, I'm sure they should help you on this matter!

Thanks ECHOKnight2000, I have contacted the Toyota representative and ask her for a help with finding a basic model on liftback, but she said she do not have dealer's information and I was asked to email their consumer relations dept. I did so and I am waiting for a reply. Do you think there is a possiblity to get it "base"? Thanks !
stripped models often get ordered by small courier services and process servers as in town delivery cars...occasionally they get A/C. but I've seen several liek that here.

You're WELCOME for the help! There is a possiblity, or at least Toyota should make it that way that you can get a base model...the car is in such hot demand I think dealers are reluctant to sell it for lower (if possible) than they (the cars) are coming in as far as what they are equiped with. Because the nature of the beast, if you have a hot low profit margine car, most dealers are charging at or above dealer invoice. You might have to special order which could take months...generally its not cost effective for a company or dealer themselves to bring in a model that has less features than the majority of models that are coming in but I guess you can argue why have that model? I don't know, from various readings Toyota works in mysterious ways! Which could be good or bad! I think the most you're going to have to pay is a little over 13K after its said and done but you might get lucky. If you want to order you're going to have to put a deposit down. If you really want this be persistant, also check out other dealers as well. Obviously I don't have all the anwsers but just some suggestions! Good luck!

REMEMBER: You are paying off the car monthly so buying a car with just a few options is usually the smarter move since when you go to sell the car a BASE CAR is not one that people want. It may cost an extra 20-40 bucks a month BIG DEAL! DON'T BUY STARBUCKS!!
Where you from? I can get you a base model no problem...Canadian Retail is $13,900 but with the conversion it's about the same. And I think we have one in our compound.

When I bought my 2000 echo (in 2000) the salesman had me test drive a loaded model hoping I would realize I couldn't live with out all the bells and whistles. I test drove it, we went into the office and he drew up the paper work for the model I had test driven, not the base model I asked for. When I read the contract and saw it was for the more expensive model I pointed it out to the salesman. He told me they didn't have a base model in stock but I was getting such a ridiculous deal on this one I'd be a fool to turn it down. I thanked him, got up to leave and low and behold a base model miraculously appeared on the lot. Moral of the story, it's your money, be ready to walk away from a dealer if you're not getting what you want. Another dealer will be more than happy to take your money.
