Yaris Sedan vs. liftback

I wonder if the liftback can sit five adults simultaneously? Is the back seat size same as sedan?

Thanks

From various readings and seeing specs I know the both can fit 5 people but the sedan more conviently. The hatch is a little tight unless you are driving smaller people The sedan believe has more PASSENGER room but the hatch has more CARGO room. With that said the sedan has more passeger volume compared to the hatch. Don't get me wrong both are spacious but that's up to debate, some people say the hatch is fine if not roomy some say otherwise, same with the sedan, but I haven't seen too many negatives. It depends on your priorities, are you the primary driver? More than one driver? Plan on carry people a lot? Small famiiy? That's just my insight, but I wish you luck!:thumbup

Here are the specs! Should help! Just click on the "demensions" tab for what your looking for. :http://www.toyota.com/yaris/specs.html

Since Toyota doesn't sell the 5-door Yaris hatch yet...it might be more practical (in your case) to buy the sedan. I'm in a similar situation, I'm single and I'm going to school, no I don't have a Yaris but I do have a 2-door ECHO sedan, I'm the primary driver, I rarely have passengers, but that's just me. Anyway I personally would love to have a Yaris, especially the hatch! I think its funky and cool looking, and I'm in love with it, sick I know! Don't get me wrong personally I think the Yaris sedan looks great, but I love hatchs, and they are more practical than sedans as far as cargo.
Go what you like and what you have your heart on (sure personal situations such as people or cargo room do come into play but at the same time I think being happy with it is more important or just as important), to me that's more important than what others think, I think its important to like what your driving, especially with the money you paid or paying for it, its a huge investment so obviously you better like it right? Otherwise you could go with a Scion xA, that has 5 doors, although they are discontinuing that at the end of this year so get it while you can if you want that. Just suggestions! Its up to you! Good luck and keep us posted!

The Yaris Hatch will fit 5 as comfortably as the sedan, the seats are the same design, and there's the same space in the 5 door, but not in the 3 door RS. However, with the sedan you'll have more room for Gear in the trunk. So...it's up to you.

you guys don't have the liftback there? Then again...where is there?

If you're referring to the hatch, the U.S. only gets the 3-door version and the sedan. We do NOT get the 5-door nor there are any "RS" trim, that's just for Canada.

The bench style seats in the back on my 5 door liftback can fit 3 six footers comfortably. Hight is not a problem, but width is. So, if they have small bums, it can be very spacious. Unfortunately, on the many occasions that I've hauled 5 passenger, in the back seat, the occupants all had very large rear ends. but still, I didn't get any complaints.

I'm not sure about the rear seats on the 2 dr, but at least it doesn't have the centre pillar that can be obstructive if you're a tall driver who has the seat all the way back. Normally, I'm able to see my blind spot out of the corner of my eyes, without having to turn my head. However, the 5dr liftback has the centre pillar (which is not the case for the 2 dr) and I'm forced to turn my head to look out the back windows in order to check my blind spot. Since my driving is usually fast paced, cranking the head is not an option, so I'm forced to simply rely on the mirrors, which does not seem adiquate for the job.

The xA does not share the same platform of the current Yaris nor is it a Yaris...although similar drivetrain such as engine and tranny options. The xA is actually longer than the new Yaris, if I remember correctly but anyway the xA is based off a previous gen platform. But you have a point it is an alternative if some one wanted a 5-door hatch from Toyota er Scion, since Toyota does not offer a 5-door Yaris in the U.S. yet....
