different gas (octane levels)

does anyone know or have experience with getting better gas milage when using premium or supreme gas? is it worth putting in the extra few dollars for the higher octane? I do it in my cobalt but am wondering if i should have my wife do it as well in her echo.thanks in advance.

Short anwser: NO.
Its a waste of money on most cars, especially with the ECHO, it doesn't need it or require it, plus don't you think its counterproductive to have an ECONOMY car using premium? (I'm not attacking you just stating) Cars that are high performance or luxury do require cause of the higher compression ratio, but majority of cars you're just wasting your time and money. There are numerous threads regarding this. Some cars can run on both, meaning the manufacturer will suggest premium but the car can take a lower octane-I believe my dad's Miata is this way, but he puts in regular and it works just fine. Anyway hope that helps. BUt don't waste your money!
