Yaris vitz

Just a question out of curiousity...does anyone know if the yaris hatchback is in relation with the toyota vitz? they look an awful a lot alike and both have 1.5 engines.

Yes it does! The Vitz is the JDM spec of the now global Yaris hatch! So yes its the same, but some of the specs and options will vary depending on geographical location, I believe Japan only gets the 5-door Yaris hatch where's the U.S. only gets the 3-door (so far). Places such as Canada get both, the 3 and 5 door hatches. The Belta sedan sold in Japan is the JDM equivlant of the Yaris sedan we get...see the connection? So its a global car. Its the same with the previous gen Vitz, it was sold as a Yaris in other parts and ECHO hatch in Canada but not the U.S. before the new second gen Yaris came out. The previous gen ECHO sedan was the Platz in Japan and Yaris sedan in other parts of the world. Its called branding, Toyota as well as others do this, so some cars we have here are named differently for other parts of the world.

No, the U.S. for now only gets the 3-door or two door however you want to see it. To make up for that if you want to say we get the 4-door Sedan, cause generally speaking sedans sell better than hatches in the U.S. but I think that's slowly changing. Canada and I believe Europe gets the 3 and 5 door models as well as some other regions.
