yaris interior rattle?

My 07 yaris 5dr has a real annoying rattle on the front passenger side. It sounds like its coming from somewhere in the front door panels. Anyone else having/had issues like this?? It almost sounds like there is is a screw bouncing around in a plastic cup. Its happening on the highway even on little cracks in the road and uneven surfaces not just bumps?

seatbelt

The passenger's seatbelt was caught in the passenger's door. The bit hanging out the side made noise rather like a rattle whilst driving down the road.

I'm having the same problem on my 3dr hatchback. The rattle on mine seems to be coming from inside the dash. It sounds like plastic on plastic and it's extremely anoying

I don't thik I can wait until my first scheduled service. If the dealer can't fix it - short of blasting the stereo all the time - I will go insane.

It's tough tracking down a noise problem in the Yaris. One time, I had rattly CD case hidden in the passenger side door pocket that sounded like it was coming from overhead. So, I never thought to check the door pockets and had to put up with the torture for a week before I stumbled upon the culprit.

Im positive its not the seat belt.

I'll double check the pockets

Sometimes it does sound like the passenger side dash, but im pretty sure its in the upper door panel.

I dont really want to take it to the dealer as they will be fiddling around trying to hear it then trying to open it up and see whats going on which will take a full day forsure

Maybe I'll take the panel off myself one of these days and see whats back there.

i have also had rattles in my 07 yaris. When cold, i get rattles in the upper glove boxes. I am pretty sure that its in the hinges. I also have a rattle in the little plastic covering over the parking brake handle. I had a rattle in the seat belt height adjustment, so i put a little plastic wedge to stop the vibrations. I will do this with the brake cover as well.

Any body have squeaking brakes when after the car has been parked a while? It goes away after I drive a few kms.

Sounds like rust forming on the rotors, do you park in a moist area?

Mine do that every now and then but i park in an underground so it gets humid in there sometimes. After a lil braking it disappears.

On my 3 door
lift back
I found the following. Got to either side of the front fenders outside the car. Start "tapping" on
different
areas of the front fender area on both sides. MINE (and ALL at my dealer!) will "buzz" as you tap them. Just poor build quality that resonates through out MY car sadly.....

I had the same rattle, also the passanger side, it turned out to be the black triangle that covers your mirror mounting on the outside of the car. If you knock on your fender, you can hear it rattle.

Try it, maybe you lucky.

Well, there is a TSB NV009-06 that addresses: "If a creak, tick, or rattle noise is heart at the top or bottom of the windshieldk, the source of the noise may be the two windshield stoppers bonded to the top of the windshield or the windshield retainers bonded to the lower edge of the windshield...." Then there is a procedure where they actually have to cut off the tip of the plastic stopper. I noticed a ticking noise from behind my speedomter and had this done......all gone now!

This TSB is located on yarisworld.com as well as several others.

I heard a similar noise on my rental Yaris and found it was a piece of the original JDM racing tape that holds the protective shipping film in place flapping around under the car...

Rattles will drive you and your mechanic nuts, but if there's a TSB for something, you may as well start there.

UK Yaris Rattle

I too have an 07 yaris. After they car had covered approximately 90 miles it developed an annoying rattle from the drivers door. After a week of ownership the car went back to the garage as at time belived it was window moving in mount. they removed both door pannels and padded door. Issue appeard to be resolved only to return a few days later.

I had learned to accept the rattle, and have since covered 8000 miles.

The rattle will go away if i put windows down a fraction.

The car now due for 1st service as now a year old.

I again annoyed by rattle as getting worse, decided to try work out what was causing it.

I belive I have tracked it down.

There is a ruber seal araound window into witch the window slides at top of door.

This is free to move and if i physically move it it makes the same noise that i have been experiencing for past year.

Will bring this up when car in and see if this can be resolved.

I dont know if this is same rattle all other posts advise but worth checking.

Sounds sort of like a rubber/plastic flexing/squeeking noise.

Also I belive I also have the ticing noise from behind speedo that was advised in this forum.

The car will only do it once ortwice in a journey.

Normaly just after i set off and have pull up to a halt in say traffic or waiting at lights and car is stationary it will make a noise like clock ticikng once. Then issue will not reoccur untill next journey.

These two odd traits are an annoyence in what is otherwise a fantastic car.

I've got my '08 Yaris Sedan at the dealer now for this very reason - we'll see what he comes up with. The mechanic specifically mentioned the new Camry's are having problems with the bad spot welds in the front fender which sounds like it's coming from the dash.

If they don't have any luck I'll mention that TSB from above. Ah well, it's under warranty so I'll just keep pestering them on it if nothing else.
